The abandoned monkey who has found love with a pigeon
They’re an odd couple in every sense but a monkey and a pigeon have become inseparable at an animal sanctuary in China.

The 12-week-old macaque - who was abandoned by his mother - was close to death when it was rescued on Neilingding Island, in Goangdong Province.
After being taken to an animal hospital his health began to improve but he seemed spiritless - until he developed a friendship with a white pigeon.
The blossoming relationship helped to revive the macaque who has developed a new lease of life, say staff at the sanctuary.
Now the unlikely duo are never far from each other’s side, but they aren’t the only ones to strike up an unusual friendship.
Earlier this year a pig adopted a tiger cub and raised him along with her piglets because his mother couldn’t feed him.
And in 2005 a baby dear named Mi-Lu befriended lurcher Geoffrey at the Knowsley Animal Park in Merseyside after she was rejected by her mother.

Czech speedway rider knocked out in crash wakes up speaking perfect English
September 14, 2007
When Matej Kus’s teammates heard him talking after he was knocked out in a speedway accident, they were relieved he was conscious.
But they were also a little surprised.
For although the 18-year- old Czech knew only the most basic English phrases, he was conversing fluently in the language with paramedics.
Czech Matej Kus, 17, was banged on the head in a racing accident - and came to speaking perfect English

Peter Waite, the promoter for Kus’s team, the Berwick Bandits, said: “I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
“It was in a really clear English accent, no dialect or anything. Whatever happened in the crash must have rearranged things in his head.

Preserved mummy of 500-year-old Inca ‘Ice Maiden’ wows visitors
September 9, 2007
She died over 500 years ago yet, with her hands resting on her lap and head falling forward so that her finely braided hair slips across her eyes, this 15-year-old girl looks as peaceful as if she has just fallen into a sleep from which she might wake at any moment.

Her frozen body has been hailed as one of the best preserved Incan mummies ever found and, this week, she went on public display for the first time in the High Mountain Archaeological Museum in Argentina.

Visitors to the museum have been peering at the downy hairs still visible on her arms, the perfectly intact skin on her face and the lice that must have been scurrying through her hair when she died and are still lodged there.

Users will be able to download music and videos on to the gadget - called the iPod touch - without plugging it into their computer.
It also comes with a 3.5in widescreen display.

Small wonder: The new ipod plays video and has a touch screen
Based on Apple’s popular iPhone, but without the mobile phone function, it uses touchscreen technology instead of buttons and dials.
The music player goes on sale in the US this weekend but UK shoppers will have to wait until at least the end of the month to get their hands on one.
