Unusual : Giant Best Friend

A seven-year old boy from Cambodia has a rather unusual best friend. Koun Samang has been spending time with his python, which now weighs 18 stone, since he was born.
They are the same age and have hardly been separated in their whole lives.
Most parents would be horrified to find their child curled up with such a creature but Samang’s father, from the Kandal province, is happy for his son to play with the six-metre-long reptile.

Girl to have arm taken off back

A GIRL in China is to undergo a lengthy four-stage operation to remove a “spare” arm growing from her back.
Ren Xin, 11, will have the extra limb removed by surgeons in Beijing next week.
Chinese media has quoted doctors as saying that there had been fewer than 20 cases of similar conditions reported around the nation.
But in a similar case earlier this month, doctors in India successfully removed four ?extra? limbs from two-year-old Lakshmi, making headlines worldwide.
Lakshmi was originally a conjoined twin, but as her body grew the additional limbs became part of her body.
The two arms and two legs were removed in a marathon operation.
While Lakshmi provides a hopeful example Ren the case of an Indonesian man with root-like growths on his arms and legs has been without diagnosis ? let alone surgry - for decades.
The 35-year-old, who has been dubbed ?Tree-man?, is believed to be suffering a life-threatening condition.

*Sacked from his job and deserted by his wife, Dede has been raising his two children - now in their late teens - in poverty, resigned to the fact that local doctors had no cure for his condition.
*To make ends meet he even joined a local “freak show”, parading in front of a paying audience alongside victims of other peculiar diseases.
*Dede’s problem is that he has a rare genetic fault that impedes his immune system, meaning his body is unable to contain the warts.
The virus was therefore able to “hijack the cellular machinery of his skin cells”, ordering them to produce massive amounts of the substance that caused the tree-like growths known as “cutaneous horns” on his hands and feet.
*Dr.Gaspari,who became involved in the case through a Discovery Channel documentary, believes that Dede’s condition can be largely cleared up by a daily doses of a synthetic form of Vitamin A, which has been shown to arrest the growth of warts in severe cases of HPV (Human Papilloma Virus)
