Out Of This World : Crazy CD Player

May 2, 2008

When was the last time you found yourself in a store looking to purchase a new CD player? I’m not talking about one for your car, or even a portable one, but just a CD player for a room in

your house. If you’re anything like me, it’s been a very long time. This is why companies that still make such devices are trying their hardest to make CD players more appealing to consumers. Take this strange CD-T300 Pro for example.

Shanling, the company responsible for creating this device specializes in making rather unique products. They stand apart both inside and out. It’s easy to see how the neon lights and interesting shapes are going to draw a few strange glances from visitors in your house, but that’s not what really sets this apart from the rest of the crowd.

The CD-T300 features four amplification valves which are supposed to offer some of the best sound quality around. How good is the sound quality? I can’t say for sure, but they seem to think its worth $12,000. I think I’ll just stick with my iPod dock.

Splendid : Classic Car shelves

May 1, 2008

Now you don’t have to leave the lovely visage of your favorite ponycar languishing in the dark of the garage anymore. California Car Cover Company is offering shelves that pay homage to Shoebox Chevies, ‘59 Caddies, C3 Corvettes and ‘65 Mustangs, so you now have a boomeriffic place to stash various and sundry little bits that would otherwise clutter a more pedestrian shelf. Prices range from $19.99 to $79.99, far less than even a set of sparkplugs for the old clunker that’s spent the last decade and a half leaking on your driveway, and we bet that it’ll take less time to mount one of these to the wall than it will to get that old Quadrabog rebuilt and tuned.

New Gadget Invention : Self-stirring cup could signal the end for the humble teaspoon

April 17, 2008

The humble teaspoon could be confined to the back of the cutlery drawer following the invention of a self-stirring teacup.

The mug takes away the need to search for a spoon when making a hot beverage.

The gadget was created by two French designers, who recently displayed it at the London Design Festival.

Designer Florian Dussopt, 23, said: “The cup aims at introducing a new way of drinking tea or another warm drink without using a spoon.

The self-stirring cup and how to use it - it could mean the end of the teaspoon

“The ball is put into a slightly protruding base to keep it in place when stirring and drinking.

“Users gently move the cup, like you would when swirling a glass of cognac, and the action pushes the ball around.

“The ceramic ball mixes all various sugars and milk at the same time, thus eliminating the need for a spoon.

“When you drink, the ball is blocked by the gravity in the recess of the glass.?

Mr Dussopt revealed the designers plan to introduce the cup, called Ceramic For Mix, into bars and restaurants.

He added: “The aim is not to kill the spoon but to suggest an alternative for a special occasion.”

His company, called Ana Gram, has made a series of prototypes of the cups and is looking for a manufacturer.

Bright Idea : World’s First Intelligent Refrigerator

April 13, 2008

How about your fridge letting you know that you are out of your favorite ice cream or there is no butter in stock via an sms?
From future scenario to reality

“The fridge has now become aware of its contents; and it is capable of establishing direct contact between you and their producers. Like you, the fridge is on the Internet and thus able to get hold of you - even on your mobile. It will let you know what you need to buy if you want to prepare a simmering beef stroganoff; also, it will alert you if you are out of chocolate-and-fruit flavoured ice cream.
The first intelligent fridge in the world cost us a measly ten bucks.
Kim Otto, loose on the defenceless Siemens refrigerator, outfitted the fridge with an RFID reader. Then the existing flatscreen was replaced by a touch screen with an embedded Postallo computer - a computer equipped with customised database and web software by PragmaSoft. This software was also used for last autumn’s food project, The Helpful Food of the Future. Version 2.0 of the refrigerator has thus been equipped with a reader on its top shelf - a reader capable of transmitting in a higher frequency to the RFID tags appended to the foodstuff.
The resonance frequency occurring in the reader on the shelf will build up a tension high enough to transmit a response back to the antenna and - as compared with the 14 centimetres of version 1.0 - the signal now has a range of 22 centimetres.”
Here is a representation of the future where the thing we use in our day to day life will have an access to all the information & will in-turn update us with useful information.
